Pumpkin Posing

Yesterday we went to a "pumpkin patch" place down in Olympia, WA. Tried to get some good pictures, but the sun was setting and there was actually a pretty poor selection of pumpkins.

Hanging out with Dad...

Getting ready for our first real bath in real water!

Here we are getting ready for Carter's first real bath, and not just a sponge bath.

It was actually pretty surprising, because he actually enjoyed it much more than the sponge bath. He even stopped crying for awhile!

He really enjoyed having his back washed as well, leaning up against the side like this. This was actually taken a few days ago. Last night, we gave him another bath in deeper water, which he loved! I was impressed.

Crazy week

It has been an interesting week. Sorry there have been no updates. I went back to work this past Wednesday, something I was not looking forward to due to Carter's restless nights. For the longest time after we got home he wanted nothing to do with sleeping through the night (5 hours or so). Luckily that all changed the day I went back to work, and he has actually been sleeping better now.

He went with mom for his 2 week check-up on Wednesday as well. He has gained more weight and the doctor said he is doing great. One issue we are still trying to deal with, however, is this acid-reflux type of thing going on with his stomach and processing the milk after feeding. He likes to eat and eat and eat, too much, and then has a hard time burping-eventually spitting up violently and crying a lot. He arches his back quite a bit also. Doc told us this is usually a sign of a kind of heartburn. I hope he is not taking after his grandfather! :-)
Crossing our feet. We had to find him some new clothes he actually fits in. The shirt and pants he is wearing here is actually for Preamies.

Just us now.

Now everyone has left, and it is just us. There is no more "playing parents", because this is the real deal. Christine tells me this morning, "well I guess there is no going back now...". She's right. Whether we are ready or not, Carter is here to stay and we have been charged with the titles of "Parents". It is truly an awesome honor and privilege.

Baggy is in...

This little man seems to not be able to fit into any of the clothes we have for him. I thought he was big when he was born, but he sure seems small when we try and dress him. If you notice, he is "swimming" in his pants here.

First Bath at Home

No water yet... All is good!

Warming up afterwards with Grandma.

Rewards

Well it was an interesting weekend and past couple of days. Carter loves to be up at night and sleeps a lot during the day.

I just got back from the airport, dropping my parents off. They were really sad to go, and I don't blame them. The next time they come out will probably be in the spring, about 6 months from now. I'm sure Carter is going to grow fast.

When we came home from the hospital on Saturday, my dad had baked some homemade bread. It was superb! No recipe or nothing. This batch he made, however, should have been sold it was so good. It was a whole grain type that he made into round loaves.

We had our first outing yesterday. Christine had to stop by the office and we brought Carter in as well. After this we went to Costco and Target. He did excellent. This was probably because he slept most the time, and thus kept us up till 3 am last night.

So Rowdy, one of our cats, enjoys Carter's changing table. He still has not really understood the fact that he no longer is the baby of the house. He also has been acting quite weird lately. He has an attitude and will go from a loving cat to a hissing and clawing animal over nothing. He never used to do this up until a couple of weeks ago. I don't know exactly what is wrong with him.

Back Online

Well, we're back. I apologize for the blog being down, however I am using external hosting for this website outside of Blogger, and my host had a hard drive crash. Yes, you would say "what about redundancy?", and for most hosts it wouldn't be an issue keeping their customers up and online, but I am using a bargain host, and I guess you get what you pay for! :-)
