Dying Eggs

This was the first time Carter dyed eggs. We put our aprons on. He had a great time. The only thing he didn't get was that he had to be gentle when "dropping" the eggs into the dye...we had a few cracks:)

Carter woke up the next day to find surprises in his basket. Elmo toys, stuffed Nemo doll, Cars stuff!!!

Easter Time!

Carter went to a Easter Egg Hunt down the road at the kid's park. There were so many kids there...so Carter didn't get too many eggs. So we came home and had our own egg hunt in the back yard. He had a great time hunting for eggs. he also enjoyed opening them and finding candy and money. He spent time and put his money in his piggy bank.

carter playing in the waves

Saturday, March 15, 2008 We went to the beach as a family. It was a nice day 74 degrees but windy. He went on the boogie board for the first time. He had a blast! The waves were intense so he almost got swept away...scary. When Graham went out on the board by himself, Carter would yell. "Dad, come back...come back Dad". Carter now calls Graham dad instead of daddy.

Carter has such a huge vocabulary now. You can have full conversations with him now. He says things like, "I don't like that", "don't do that", "wait for me".

A few weeks ago he was playing with sister and started to count 1-11 and didn't miss a number in between. Of course when we ask him to do it again he will skip a number or two.

He now tells me what color everything is. I think he truly knows yellow, orange, white, purple & black.

His favorite book at the time is Down By the Station. It actually is a great teaching tool for teaching different animals and what the name of the babies are. He now tells us that the baby kangaroo is joey. each page he tells us where the daddy, mommy & baby is in the picture. Of course he also loves it because the story is all about a train picking up animals. Two of his favorite things (animals & trains)! Sometimes he sings the song to himself when he is playing...

Down by the station
Early in the morning
See the engine driver
Pull his little lever
Puff puff
Toot toot
Off we go!

It is very common for him to break out into song at the store. He will just start singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Jesus Loves Me or Itsy, Bitsy Spider. Most of the time the other customers think it is great.

Ready for a walk w/ sister!

We love to go for walks in the neighborhood. Sometimes Carter even walks by himself for awhile. He talks the whole time! If we walk past a car with any dents and/or scratches he says, "car broken, needs to be fixed? Man needs to fix the car?" He loves to announce every car, truck, boat that we see. He will say, "man drive the truck?". He also has an obession with trailers. Ever since our road trip across country when we were pulling a moving trailer. He would call it, "mommies trailer?" Everytime we got out of the car he would get so excited about the trailer. Now that we are in Fl many people have boats in their driveway and the boats are on trailers. So he points out all the trailers in the neighborhood.

Exploring Nature

We found a near by park w/ a nature trail. Carter walked by himself. He had a great time! Part of the trail is bridges. He called it "train tracks". He saw his first lizard, so the whole walk back to the car he was looking up in the trees for lizards. We only saw two lizards...it is not exactly lizard season yet. An older couple on the trail told us the lizards will be all over in another month. Carter is going to love chasing the lizards!

Playdough Time!

I'm trying to expose Carter to many activities. If it was his choice he would play with cars all day and harrass his sister. He enjoyed himself. I would show him how to make balls, snakes, birds, etc. He would break it into small pieces & ask me to makes things for him. He would say, "eat it" & smile. I would remind him that playdough is not for eating but making things with. He now asks to play with play dough.

Carter at the beach

Friday, March 7, 2008
Today was first time carter went to the beach to actually play. It was funny, when we drove up to the beach Carter said, "hooray, hooray".He brought his pail, shovel, & toys. He was having a great time...digging in the sand and throwing it at the water. he finally realized the water was a lot more fun than the sand. He was running in the water, the wave would come and knock him down and he would crawl out. We really have to keep a close eye on him near water because he now has no fear of it. It was a decent day. 71 degrees, partly sunny but windy.

Carter at the Monster Truck Show

Graham took Carter to the Monster Truck show. Carter had a good time. He was talking about it for days after. It was a loud show so they wore earplugs. I'm not sure if it was a good idea now. It took a few days for him to play w/ his cars & trucks normally...gently. All he would talk about is the cars being "broken" and "crashing".
